Optimism for 2012 SGR Fix Wanes

We, at ADVOCATE, are not optimistic that Congress and the President will be able to reach an agreement between now and the end of the year that would avoid the 26.5% cut in physician fee schedule payments due to the SGR, nor are we confident that they will enact the legislation necessary to prevent the additional 2% Sequestration related cut slated to take effect in early January.

To make sure you have the most up-to-date information, ADVOCATE, in association with the HBMA, has made arrangements for a special end-of-year update by Bill Finerfrock, a Washington insider. This brief audio message will be made directly available to you through an email announcement that will arrive in your inbox the afternoon of December 31st. This message will provide you with the latest update as our government peers over the “fiscal cliff”.

Finally, we wanted you to know that ADVOCATE, thru our affiliation with HBMA, has not been merely observing these deliberations but has been actively supportive of efforts to encourage Congress to address the SGR issue BEFORE the end of the year.

Best regards,
Kirk Reinitz, CPA
