Medicare Physician Revalidation Deadline Extended

Section 6401 (a) of the Affordable Care Act established a requirement for all enrolled radiologists and other providers to “revalidate” their enrollment information with CMS under new enrollment screening criteria. This effort applies to all radiologists and other providers that were enrolled with CMS prior to March 25, 2011.

CMS has announced that the revalidation notices will now be sent through March of 2015, rather than the original deadline of March 23, 2013. If a provider has received a revalidation notice from the contractor, the provider must respond to the request by completing the application through internet-based PECOS or by completing the appropriate 855 application. ADVOCATE will handle this process for all their clients. This extension does not affect those providers which have already received a revalidation notice.

The deadline extension came, in part, due to feedback received from HBMA and other key industry stakeholders.

ADVOCATE will continue to provide updates as they become available.
